Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was employed as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin working for the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. She reported on a variety of interesting stories such as weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal and traveled extensively together with the President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
